Recently, I have been attempting to crank out some new art with aims of submitting my subject matter in specific art and design contests (usually T-shirt designs). All this at the encouragement of a artist friend of mine. So here is my latest attempt to capture a special message of my own in a display of artistic experimentation. The theme is that of a punk nature, and here is my best attempt to express those sentiments in a series of nonrandom lines scribbled by my #2 pencil. Enjoy!

The impact and devastation that human beings are capable of incising upon the Earth is astounding. Here are some incredible satellite images of specific events caused by human activity that have left lasting scars on the planet. In terms of a macroscopic analogy, it appears that the Earth is suffering from a virus or cancer of the human variety.

Below is a before-and-after comparison of the exponential growth of Las Vegas -- an artificial human playground in the middle of a non-sustainable desert.

Is there even a shred of truth in this rhyme? I understand that it is supposed to teach children to take the high road or to not take it to heart when taunted by a bully. But what is this rhyme teaching the bullies?* And what kind of lesson are we teaching the youth regarding the value of their spoken words?

Perhaps our society would be a better place if people understood that the words they speak do indeed have a powerful impact on the lives of others: that as a speaker they control the power to do much good or much evil with their very words.

So instead of the old "Sticks and Stones" saying,
what if we taught our youth a different message?

What message would you teach?


*Not to mention the apparent increase in the amount of attention this society is giving bullying. It leads one to wonder what the correlation is between our culture's general social mentality and the growing severity and numbers of "bullies."
