Richard Feynman - Ode To A Flower

When worlds collide, we realize that our shared reality is relative in nearly every aspect of it all. Beauty, is at the very forefront, the most obscure focal point of each respective pair of individual lens. Meaning is left to the unique experience of the mind's eye, and yet it is a gift to be cherished as a shared experience. Be the beholder! Let the beauty of life rest in the seat of your soul as you revel in the fleeting transience of all the universe's ephemeral mystery...

Nelson Mandela

Today we mourn the loss and celebrate the Life and struggle of Nelson Mandela, civil rights titan and one of the central figures in the fight against South African apartheid. As we remember him today, let us be inspired to be brave and to stand up and speak out for truth and rights - for our own lives and for those who do not have the voice to speak out for themselves. Be strong and wise, my friends!

Here's an artistic treat for those who enjoy a good marble maze or Rube Goldberg devices. It'll be an extra special treat for those who left their heart in San Francisco.  Take a close look and see if you recognize any of the memorable landmarks from the "city by the Bay." Enjoy!

Winners & Losers

This flyer was posted in one of the cubicles in one of the buildings on the US Air Force Base where I work. The message is quite invigorating, is it not? It really leaves no room for question when it comes down to what it takes to be a winner.

Tony Melendez plays "Let It Be" on South Padre Island

What an inspiring performance!

In times of sorrow and sadness, struggle and frustration, let each and everyone of us remember all the little things that we are truly blessed with in our daily lives.

and then I met a man who had no feet."

Diana Nyad Arrives in Key West After 111-Mile Swim From Cuba

On August 31, 2013 Diana Nyad successfully swam 110 miles from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida on her 5th attempt and at the age of 64 years. Upon reaching the Florida coast, after a grueling 53 hours of constant swimming, she spoke. And the words resonated with the wisdom of Life.

1. You should never ever give up.
2. You are never too old to chase your dreams.
3. It looks like a solitary sport, but it is a team.

The Secret Story of TOYS

What would a childhood be without toys?

Did you have a favorite toy growing up? Perhaps a stuffed animal? Doll? Action figure? Ball? For those of us fortunate enough to grow up with toys to play with, we are able to look back on our formative years with a special fondness and sentimental delight. Toys help facilitate that carefree world in our imaginations where we create and play and maybe even destroy...

Unfortunately, there are many children out there who are toyless, and many toys out there who are girl and boy-less. As you know, it takes a village to raise a child. So in a way, we are all responsible for the positive upbringing of our youth. Please consider donating new and/or used toys to a happy child today. It might make a world of difference to a young mind in need of some inspiration. :)

For a place to start, check out Toys for Tots!

Here is a sneak peak into the world of modern day toy-makers. They truly are artists of a childlike imagination.

Animals of Earth

Aloha ahiahi! How is everyone's week going so far? Hopefully we're all getting things checked off our to-do lists so we can enjoy the weekend at its finest. Today I bring you some breathtaking images submitted to National Geographic and chosen as the "Photo of the Day: Animals" category. Below are a few of my favorites from the recent batch of photographs, perhaps you'll find a few that suit you.

When I look at wild animals I cannot help but feel a strange sense of calming centeredness. The very idea that these living beings can live free and pure, not bound by moral or social constraints like we humans, is really quite enviable to an extent. Would you not agree? They simply, Live. Have we forgotten how to do the same? And is this the fundamental basis for our divergence as a species from the natural course of human harmony with the living planet? Perhaps the "modernizing" human race (and a continuously evolving, if not already highly evolved, one -- in our own boastful minds of corrupted social priorities and incessant hubris) has almost fully transitioned from a symbiotic relationship with the Earth into a parasitic one?

Our human capacity to actualize our thoughts and seize our environment for our consumption has overshadowed our classic endeavor to master the art of simply being. What gives your life purpose? And how do you contribute to Life in this world? Deep thoughts, my friends. But as humans, this is our higher calling. Is it not?

Life is good.

Nigel Stately - Serenity Forever

Aloha friends! And apologies for not being so diligent on updating the Wishing Well lately. This summer is definitely turning out to be one to remember and I hope the same is true for all of you. As a small consolation for my negligence over the past few months, may I present you a gift of aural bliss -- a tantalizing progressive house-opera for your senses. So, here's a toast: to you and the remainder of your summer! Let it be a good one!

Happy 157th Birthday Tesla!

Today marks the 157th birthday of the scientific genius and visionary Nikola Tesla. Tesla is perhaps the most profound inventor of the modern era, and you might be surprised to find out just how many "smart" devices we use in today's tech-savvy culture that can be attributed to his revolutionary mind.

Here's a fun and educational doodle created by the artists over at theoatmeal.com that gives a little snippet of Tesla's life accomplishments and prophetic visions of a future aligned with technology. And here is a comedic biographical drama of Tesla's life story. Enjoy! And now go out and imagine your own groundbreaking ideas!

This is definitely a hip-hop album you do not want to miss out on, as these artists are among the best in the rap game right now. Learning to Love.

I took some time to calm my heart
and really meditate on who I am
and the type of person my choice of actions have come to project.

At the very core of me,
I am still able to maintain
my true identity and my responsibilities that constantly remain.

On the surface it may seem
that Love has struck my heart so fiercely
and altered my state of being.

The gap between my emotions and my actions
may feel disjointed at times
And they must be in balance in order for our connection to survive.

For me, sometimes the most difficult thing
is to step back and let Love happen naturally.
I have already learned how to do this with life, but Love is another creature entirely.

Yes, too much of a good thing can be unhealthy.
I know this now without a shred of doubt.
Like water and sunlight, Love needs time and space to grow.
Lest it shall die without.

A Revolutionary Idea in Higher Education

Have you already heard of coursera.orgcoursera.org?

It is a relatively new internet innovation that has the potential to further the democratization of knowledge -- a powerful mechanism bringing a somewhat institutionalized form of higher education to the public. Many of the universities represented on Coursera are well-recognized, quite prestigious, and give a justifiable legitimacy to the course content.

Friends, I urge you to foster your appetite for knowledge. Feed your curiosity; for a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Go have some fun learning something new!  Aloha~
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Coursera_logo.PNG
P.S. I really like the logo idea. (The "co" in "coursera" is the symbol of "infinity.") But what does the "ra" mean?
